 Night-Life

There is a silver sheen of light
On everything around
Shadows long and whispery
Will trail along the ground

The smallest whisper seems as loud
As thunder in the sky
What sounds like marching armies are
Some mice scurrying by

These hours while the world's asleep
Are filled with wonders rare
The creatures of the night come out
There's magic in the air

The evening birds sing quiet songs
That dance along the night
The animals that sleep all day
Come out to see the sight

The hours just before the dawn
Are darkest of them all
When night-life goes back to their homes
And morning comes to call
